Scripture:
Psalm 62 (NIV)
My soul
finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and
my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. How long will you
assault a man? Would all of you throw him down- this leaning wall, this
tottering fence?
They fully intend to topple him from
his lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but
in their hearts they curse. Selah Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my
hope comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God
; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out
your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. Selah
Lowborn men are but a breath, the highborn
are but a lie; if weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are
only a breath. Do not trust in extortion or take pride in stolen goods; though
your riches increase, do not set your heart on them.
One thing God has spoken, two things have
I heard: that you, O God, are strong, and that you, O Lord, are loving. Surely
you will reward each person according to what he has done.
Psalm 62 (ESV)
For God
alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. He alone is
my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken. How long
will all of you attack a man to batter him, like a leaning wall, a tottering
fence?
They
only plan to thrust him down from his high position. They take pleasure in
falsehood. They bless with their mouths, but inwardly they curse. Selah For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for
my hope is from him.
He
only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God
rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour
out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah
Those
of low estate are but a breath; those of high estate are a delusion; in the
balances they go up; they are together lighter than a breath. Put no
trust in extortion; set no vain hopes on robbery; if riches increase, set not
your heart on them.
Once
God has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God, and that
to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. For you will render to a man according
to his work.
John 9:1-3 (NIV)
As he went along, he saw a man blind
from birth. His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his
parents, that he was born blind?"
"Neither
this man nor his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but this happened so
that the work of God might be displayed in his life.
