Scriptures:
Mark
1:14-20
After John was put in prison, Jesus
went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come,” he said.
“The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!”
As Jesus walked beside the Sea of
Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for
they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers
of men.” At once they left their nets and followed him.
When he had gone a little farther, he
saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets. Without
delay he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the
hired men and followed him.
John 18:36.37
Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of
this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the
Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place.”
“You are a king, then!” said Pilate.
Jesus answered, “You are right in
saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came
into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens
to me.”
Matthew 13:44-46
“The kingdom of heaven is like
treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in
his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant
looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and
sold everything he had and bought it.
John 3:3-8
In reply Jesus declared, “I tell you
the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”
“How can a man be born when he is
old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother’s
womb to be born!”
Jesus answered, “I tell you the
truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the
Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying,
‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its
sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with
everyone born of the Spirit.”
