Scripture:
Ephesians
1:7-14
In him
we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with
the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and
understanding. And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his
good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the
times will have reached their fulfillment—to bring all things in heaven and on
earth together under one head, even Christ.
In him we were also chosen, having
been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in
conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first
to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were
included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your
salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised
Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption
of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.
Jeremiah
18:1-12
This is the word that came to
Jeremiah from the Lord: “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give
you my message.” So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at
the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so
the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.
Then the word of the Lord came to me:
“O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter does?” declares the Lord.
“Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel.
If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down
and destroyed, and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will
relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned. And if at another time
I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted, and if it
does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I
had intended to do for it.
“Now therefore say to the people of
Judah and those living in Jerusalem, ‘This is what the Lord says: Look! I am
preparing a disaster for you and devising a plan against you. So turn from your
evil ways, each one of you, and reform your ways and your actions.’ But they
will reply, ‘It’s no use. We will continue with our own plans; each of us will
follow the stubbornness of his evil heart.’ ”
Exodus 6:6
I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I
will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an
outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment.
John 1:29
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said,
“Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
1 Corinthians 5:7
Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch
without yeast—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been
sacrificed.
