Scriptures:
James 1:1-8
James, a servant of God and of
the Lord Jesus Christ,
To the twelve tribes scattered among
the nations:
Greetings.
Consider it pure joy, my brothers,
whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of
your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you
may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom,
he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it
will be given to him. But when he asks,
he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea,
blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive
anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.
Psalm 22:1,2
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so
far from saving me, so far from the words of my groaning? O my God, I cry out by
day, but you do not answer, by night, and am not silent.
John 16:33
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have
peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the
world.”
Romans 8:17-27
Now if we are children, then we are
heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his
sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. I consider that our
present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed
in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be
revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice,
but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself
will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious
freedom of the children of God.
We know that the whole creation has
been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not
only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan
inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our
bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at
all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet
have, we wait for it patiently. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our
weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself
intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches
our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the
saints in accordance with God’s will.
1 Peter 4:12,13
Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial
you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But
rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be
overjoyed when his glory is revealed.
Malachi 3:10
Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the
floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room
enough for it.
