Scriptures:
Matthew 11:25-30
At that time Jesus said, “I
praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these
things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes,
Father, for this was your good pleasure.
“All things have been committed
to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows
the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
“Come to me, all you who are
weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn
from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your
souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Philippians 4:5
Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
Matthew 26:52-54
Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him,
“for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. Do you think I cannot call
on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions
of angels? But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must
happen in this way?”
Colossians 3:12,13
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe
yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear
with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one
another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Romans 12:14-21
Bless those who persecute you;
bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who
mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to
associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be
careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far
as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my
friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to
avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary:
“If your enemy is hungry, feed
him;
if he is thirsty, give him
something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap
burning coals on his head.”
Do not be overcome by evil, but
overcome evil with good.
